Editorial Review
The Senopati Quarter has recently become a place for one to not only find a diverse choice of restaurants but one can also expect to walk into some really lovely bistros and wine bars as well. There is one in particular that has been hogging all the attention lately, and you may have heard of this place called Publico.
The impressive three-storey building is designed with a chic and oh so cozy French interior, which seems to be quite the recipe for design success amongst Jakartans. Speaking of recipes, at a quick glance you will notice that Publico ticks all the boxes when it comes to the standard bistro style offerings such as the salads, a sprinkling of popular Asian dishes, various offerings of Western options such as lamb chops, roast chicken and you get the picture, oui?
However, when you look more closely at the menu and you will realize for example, that in their starters, their chicken wings have been marinated for 24 hours, smoked with paprika and mint aoli, something a little different than usual. Also all their meats are cooked with a Josper Grill oven, a first in Jakarta. We recommend you try their smoked salmon, which has been smoked literally with tea and served with the velvety wasabi mashed potato. This is accompanied with a tempura dipping sauce, which just accentuates all the flavors.
Overall, if you are into trying some adventurous and creative dishes, then Publico is definitely the right spot. For desserts, try the Mars Bar, well at least their interpretation of it- with chocolate mousse and crumbles, Vanilla Chantilly topped with salted caramel. By the way, the chocolate they use is the French luxury chocolate ‘Valrhona’ which is known for its vintage chocolate and some quality beans.
