Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production (RECP) that aims to improve resource efficiency and environmental performance of businesses and other organizations continuously applies preventive environmental strategies to processes, products and services. The concept aims to increase efficiency and reduce risks to humans and the environment which is part of Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) which has emerged on the global development agenda since the 1990s. RECP builds upon cleaner production to accelerate the application of preventive environmental strategies at company level to processes, products and services. Practices and applications of cleaner production have been around for several decades as it has became an important aspect of SCP which has been addressed by academic research and policy efforts since the 1980s and as the preventive approaches in achieving SCP priorities on material, energy, water and waste as critical sectors; poverty as a cross-cutting issue, in reducing the environmental impact of production, and ultimately consumption.

Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production (RECP) addresses the three sustainability dimensions individually and synergistically: a) heightened economic performance through improved productive use of resources, b) environmental protection by conserving resources and minimizing industry’s impact on the natural environment, and c) social enhancement by providing jobs and protecting the wellbeing of workers and local communities.

This workshop will be expected to show how RECP enable changes to foster innovation through policy strategies, financing, and curricula. The discussion on policy needs to discuss whether the policymakers have gained considerable experience about eco-efficiency and cleaner production policies, particularly policies in areas where end-of-the-pipe technologies were available, such as on textile industry, tourism, and in industrial estate. While on financing, the forum will discuss on how finance can support the RECP and identify the possible scheme. In measuring the human resources readiness on RECP, the workshop will discuss the RECP curriculum in academic institution.

Objectives:

·      To share existing RECP Policy Strategies, Financing, and Curricula in Academic Institution to the relevant stakeholders to get valuable input in those 4 topics

·      To present some appreciations to some SMEs that participated in RECP Indonesia
