Ikan Bakar Cianjur

(021) 7590 - 0222

Jl. Cipete Raya No. 35
Jakarta, Indonesia

Editorial Review

Ikan Bakar Cianjur or otherwise know as IBC, is one of the most famous local restaurants in Indonesia. Usually when people flock out of Jakarta during the weekends to Bandung or Sukabumi, it is not only to get away from the city, it is also to enjoy the delicious array of traditional Indonesian foods. The 'lesehan' environment (or alfresco style dining Indo-style) with the fresh crisp breeze, and sitting on the floor enjoying a warm glass of bandrek with a group of companions is an ideal way for these out-of-towners to really kick back and relax.

While the Jakarta chain may not the same atmosphere and the fresh air, the food is still ever so good. Their flagship venue in Cipete is always bustling at lunchtime and that by dinnertime, some of their most favorite dishes are sold out. It is best to get in early to avoid disappointment.

One of the many reasons why Jakartans love this place is simply due them serving really good and tasty food. Full stop! Furthermore their portion sizes are generous, so not only will you get value for your rupiah, you will also have had a very satisfying meal and to top off, their service ever so friendly. Their Nasi Liwet dish could also possibly be another key reason why people and their families herd over to IBC. The flavored rice is served abundance, in a metal cooker with small anchovies, chilies and herbs. The customers usually enjoy this with a piece of fried chicken or fried fish but for some, since the rice is so tasty they enjoy it simply with the homemade sambal of IBC.

Our favorite is found in their fish selection and it is the Gurami Pesmol, which also happens to be one of their best selling dish here, surprise surprise. The fried fish is drizzled in their special sweet and sour sauce with fresh chilies and herbs and is just succulent.

As for their soup selection, we prefer their rich almost 'Jamu' like soup, which is the Gulai Kambing. The goat meat is tender and the heavy soup is perfect with rice or even on its own.

You will be reminded of how much you love Indonesian food each and every time you visit IBC.
