Crystal Jade from its lavish looking wooden exterior branded with Chinese calligraphy may seem like a place for fine dining but rather this establishment is frequented by ranges of patrons who want to enjoy the Chinese cuisine in a comfortable environment, rather than in the typical stalls that carry the risks of someone walking out smelling of sautéed prawns or various other fishy odors. However be sure to pack your wallet with sufficient 'dough'. What we mean by casual is that, it’s just not one of those places where you are charged a thousand dollars for some endangered fish, but exclusive in terms of quality of food, service and comfort.

Established in 1991, this place has made a name for itself in several locations throughout China, Singapore, and other Asian countries. The modern Asian décor of Crystal Jade, Grand Indonesia is abstracted by its open kitchen, which leaves the chefs in plain sight of customers. Worth strolling around for a look if you are curious to how the food is prepared. This place is well known to tout their famous dumplings which are a common order amongst customers who frequent there. You start off with a complimentary peanut dish and Kulit Tahu Goreng (fried tofu skin). Moving on to the main course we opted for the simple Cumi Goreng Lada Garam or fried squid with salt and pepper which was a great choice with a perfect measure of spices. The next order which followed was the Ayam Goreng Pedas Cabe Kering or spicy fried chicken with fried dried chili. Incredibly spicy and suited our taste buds very well. We readied ourselves for more spices with some ice water and selected a crowd favorite called Ansio Tahu Saus Pedas Jamur, Tunas Bumbu dan Paprika (Braised beancurd with mushroom, bamboo shoot& capsium served with spicy sauce). Another favored dish is the Sup La Mian Seichuan. We were not surprised by the spicy flavors after our previous encounters, but appreciated it nevertheless. Surely worth a try though! Finally for some dessert, we went for Lumpia Daun Bawang (deep fried golden pastry),absolutely delicious;however, you could categorize this under the appetizer course. After this elaborate encounter of never-ending spices and oily food we were presented with some hot Chinese tea, a drink which is common practice after Chinese food.
