Decanter Wine house can be considered as one of the most outrageously underrated restaurant in Jakarta, if not Indonesia. Having several recognition under their belt from various food critics and restaurant guides such as the BCA Dining Guide 2009 – 2010 which gave Decanter a straight 9 out of 10 on the following categories: food, wine, and service, Decanter is a force to be reckon with.
As you first walk into the restaurants you are in complete trance to the attention to detail they have created with the interior. With over 1400 LED lights in the bar area to the real foliages displayed on their windows, we already knew that this place has alot to offer. Their settings blends in quite well with the wooden, urban yet organic environment. Known for its wide range, international wine selection, Decanter also offers the most complete wine selection. Their equally impressive menus offers a selection of tapas styled dishes, unique salads, to Mediterranean, Italian and French influenced dishes. This makes it pleasantly difficult to pick which dish you wish to start off with. For an appetizer we have decided to give the sautéed mushroom a go, and at first bite its is probably the most ‘fanciest’ mushrooms we have ever tasted! Their signature salad turned out to be a hit as well, for it provides generous portions of fresh vegetables and fruit with honey glazed sauce which is truly delicious and an eye candy to begin with. As we are served with our main dish, lamb shank gremolata, we relish on the mouth watering and tender lamb that is cooked to pure perfection. To finish off the astounding culinary ecstasy we are served with Dogerized a funky dessert signature cocktails inspired by one of the favourite desserts in Indonesia, Es Doger.
We conclude simply that Decanter is exceptional by far in terms of their wine selection, food and service and raised the bar in the culinary industry of Indonesia.
