With international restaurants lining Jl Gunawarman, keep a look out for a venue with a navy blue exterior and wall lanterns (very provencal), this is Le Quartier. Upon entering, you will feel as if you are transported to a typical café nestled on the cobbled sidewalks of Paris. Since their opening, Le Quartier has enticed many people with their ambience and menu, not surprising, as who wouldn’t like a little European escapism for a few hours?
Food wise, their focus is more on modern French cuisine, and with three menus available for different times of the day, variety is not a problem. Customers at Le Quartier seem to have a universal favorite when it comes to the starters: Escargots Bourgogne where the snails are taken out of their shells and baked with some spinach and smoked duck breasts.
We also definitely recommend the Assiette De Charcuterie et Fromage which is a really top quality selection of cold cuts such as Jamón Serrano, Porchetta, Chorizo, served with a selection of cheese, grapes and fig jam. They also use some of the amazing ham and cold cuts in their stone baked pizza, which makes their pizza one of the star dishes here. And if you don't believe us, just try the White Ham and Truffle Oil pizza with green pea pesto, spinach, mushrooms, cheese and pine nuts.
For pasta, you can't go wrong with their Angel hair Aglio Oli, and unlike other venues, it is not too spicy, but it is perfectly balanced with basil, dried chilies and pine nuts. You can add more ingredients such as prawn and imported scallops, but please make sure you check the extra charge for these add-ons.
It is a no brainer that while the selection and quality of the dishes at Le Quartier is just exceptional this quality comes with a hefty price tag to match. And it is no surprise why, as they import a good majority of their ingredients as scallops, veal, caviar are not locally sourced, and authenticity comes at a price.
We recommend this place for brunch, but you can’t beat their ambience at night which is perfect for a romantic dinner, and guys, if you plan on proposing, what better than an expensive French restaurant?
