Blowfish is one of the trendiest clubs in Jakarta and is the scene for most teenagers and young adults. It is pretty obvious that the crowd is dominated by fellow Chinese residents who are perceived to be loaded with dough. The vibe we would like to say is pretty wild and we would never judge the scene from their color but the atmosphere that is generated by the crowd. Its decor is pretty fancy, with numerous LCD screens that play random visualizations and kegs wrapped in white linen that are stacked from the floor to the ceiling. The DJs play an array of R&B in the early hours towards 2 am and switch to progressive house from then on till the end. A small stage centers the dance floor, and is often used for dance performances or customers as well who wish to stand out in the crowd. A favorite drink at this place is the Mojito Strawberry, sweet and sour and perfect for the ladies. Another worth a shot is Randy Little Kiwi, a mix of fresh Kiwi fruit and vodka. Surprisingly the club is also a restaurant in the day called PURO which is perfect for drinks, dinner and lunches. In a nutshell we'd like to think that blowfish is one of the best that Jakarta has to offer for hip locals and expats. Be sure to dress up though, or you might be sent on your way home, shirts or collared t-shirts are a must and it does not stop there, ladies also face persecution if the footwear 'aint' right so absolutely No sneakers or flip-flops please. Last but not least, make sure that you pack a decent wallet or bring a credit card, for the prices are pretty posh.
