Bali promises and delivers an impressive variety for culinary enthusiasts. But sometimes, when faced with such an array of posh and luxurious choices, all we just 'wanna' do is sink our feet in the sand and enjoy wholesome delicious food. Well, Love Indonesia has found a little gem alongside the famous Legian beach that will surely accommodate to everyone's culinary needs. Wait, let us rephrase that- Exceed everyone's culinary needs.

Sandpit has been causing a lot of stir lately because word has got around that it is one of the coziest places to hang out on the beach. As the owner of sandpit TJ Juwono explains 'Concept wise, we are a refinement of existing beach warungs. We just wanted to create a comfortable, no fuss, laid back, fun, affordable, cheap, warung along the beach but still focus on taste and flavor'.

With the stretch of Legian beach in front of the venue, beach-goers now do not have to rely on questionable street-food or walking across through the cement floor and ordering food. At Sandpit, choices are abundant and there is something for everybody here- from pizzas, soups, salads, sandwiches, fresh seafood, local food and of course fish and chips. Diners can enjoy dining at Sandpit with the mascots - 2 beautiful dogs; a Siberian Husky and a Bali-native Kintamnai dog. As the owners of Sandpit are dog-lovers, Sandpit has created a wonderful event- 'Bring your dog to the beach day' once a month so you can make sure that your 'best friend' can also enjoy the chilled out mood of Sandpit and get some delicious treats.

Amongst the array of dishes available, we decided to try the Ayam Betutu. A traditional Balinese dish that is rarely served by the beach side. The tender chicken thigh simply falls off the bone and the fresh pungent flavours of Balinese herbs and spices such as chillies, cardamon, lemongrass and turmeric create a pleasant revelation to the mouth. Another chicken dish that is superb at Sandpit is their signature Carmelized Pineapple chicken with fresh slice of pineapple and honey and lemon dressing sauce that is quite delectable.

But if you opt to try a lighter dish, then we highly recommend Sandpit's Bruschetta Tomato. E. Olive which we vote the most unpretentious and wholesome bruschetta ever. Who can ever describe a meal let alone a Bruschetta like that? Well you obviously need to head yourself down to Sandpit and prove us wrong. The generous portions of freshly chopped tomatoes, basil, olives and olive all topped up in a 'un-soggy' sliced of thick bread is simply marvellous. We also recommend the Tom Yum Soup with mushrooms, fresh coriander and prawns. The broth is a killer that anyone who enjoys a good tom yum will appreciate.

To share we recommend Sandpit's pizzas, especially the Capricciosa Pizza. There are several ways to judge a good pizza; the abundance of toppings of course matters but also the resistance of cheese that strings along when you grab a slice of pizza, says a lot about a good quality pizza. At Sandpit, due to the generous amount of mozzarella cheese you will need scissors to cut off the warm stringy cheese. Absolutely delicious especially with the generous sprinkle of oregano!

After the sun sets, Sandpit brings out their grill and a seafood barbeque feast starts, serving a delicious spread of mahi-mahi, snapper and tuna fillets and many more fresh seafood items. All of their seafood is served with a choice of steamed rice, fresh salad or roasted potato wedges. Simply an awesome way to wind down after a good day of surf, fun and sun in the beach.

One thing people should learn from Sandpit is that sometimes, actually most of the time, the ultra chic ambience and extra digits on the price of a dish do not make a unique dining experience. Deep inside we want good wholesome food in an unpretentious beautiful yet natural setting. The ambience and general feel of service and immaculate food and cocktails at Sandpit says it all- We want you to enjoy your holiday in Bali and make it as 'Homey' as possible. Love Indonesia has a good feeling that in a few months, Sandpit's Huts will appear on all strips of major beaches in Bali. A five star overall and a no.1 priority on places to eat in Bali.
